I watched an episode today on Animal Planet. I must warn you, however, prospective viewers of this program, that each episode of Animal Cops (be it Philadelphia, Phoenix, or South Africa), it is guaranteed to be heartbreaking when you see the state the animals are in (dogs, cats and birds usually) due to the negligence of their owners, be it intentional or not.
Anyway I watched it while drying my hair and it was about Puppy Mills.
If you haven't heard of it before, I suggest you google about it, at least.
I hate Puppy Mills.
It was about Puppy Mill in Tennessee, and that the records of it were suspiciously perfect, 90% of the time, all the conditions being "Satisfactory".
After investigation, it was found that the living conditions was set by the computer to always appear that way, by default.
Finally, the authorities had enough evidence to conduct a search warrant on that Puppy Mill (I can't recall the name). And one of the evidence was a photo:
It was a photo of what was inside one of the cages. It had 2 two-week old Boston puppies (if I'm not wrong), stuck in literally 2 inches deep of faeces.
Like, seriously stuck and were unable to move.
When the police went there, they found that only 10% of the puppies had water, and whatever food was found in there was rotten.
There were mother dogs in cramped wire cages with some of her dead puppies, some alive.
When I saw it, I just started tearing up
Anyway my parents called to ask me out for dinner at that moment and I was kinda panicking and hoping my voice wasn't shaky or anything.
Not too sure about the point of this post though. Don't buy from Puppy Mills? Seems quite a feat seeing how all dogs from pet shops are from these mills.
I just think that those people at Animal Cops Philadelphia, they deserve more recognition than this.
